Dual Nationality (Pakistani-Foreigner)
Dual Nationality is a status in which a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time.
Dual nationality is not recognized by all countries, and it is strongly advised against by most countries.
It can be obtained through marriage to a foreign national, naturalization in another country or birth abroad to parents who were not born in Pakistan.* There are no restrictions on holding dual nationality for people who acquired their citizenship before March 2009, but any Pakistani who has voluntarily acquired citizenship of another country will lose his or her Pakistani citizenship.* For example if you obtain your second passport from any European Union country then this will automatically lead to loss of Pakistani nationality too as PIA (Pakistan Immigration Authority) doesn’t recognize dual citizenship anymore!
Issuance of NICOP / POC Card for Foreigners
The National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis, commonly known as NICOP, is an identity card issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to overseas Pakistanis.
The main objective of the NICOP is to facilitate and provide ease of travel for overseas Pakistani citizens.
It can be used as identity proof at airports, immigration check posts and police stations in different countries that have agreements with Pakistan regarding the issuance of such cards. It also serves as a proof of residence/domicile in 89 countries including the UAE (United Arab Emirates), USA (United States), and UK (United Kingdom) etc., however, it is not legal proof of citizenship or nationality because it does not contain any such information on its face side but only serves as an identification document.
Loss of NICOP / POC Card for Foreigners
NICOP / POC Card is a proof of citizenship, identity, nationality and domicile. Your NICOP / POC Card is your passport to the world of privileges from government departments, banks and other institutions. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) issues this card at their offices across Pakistan. However, there are times when you might lose your NICOP / POC Card for foreigners in Pakistan because it can easily be misplaced or stolen by someone who knows its value. The loss of this important document can cause all sorts of problems as it may affect any number of things including getting a job abroad or opening bank accounts in certain countries because they require proof that you actually live there with your family members before they will let you open one at their bank branch near home!
